What Does Rugged Rating Mean?

Oukitel rugged phones are robust, durable and built for tough industries, such as, construction, facilities management, mining, farming, security, outdoors environments  - without compromising on design.

Oukitel rugged smartphones are backed by two international standards:

1. IP68 or IP69K (depending on the model) - it is an international standard which shows that devices are deemed fit enough to withstand dust, dirt and sand, and are resistant to submersion up to a maximum depth of 1.5m underwater for up to thirty minutes.

The ‘6’ in IP68 or IP69K means that the device can withstand small dust particles, including sand and dirt when all seals are closed. So it’s perfect for the construction site, game drive in the bush or on the beach.

The "8" in IP68 means that the device is tested to withstand temporary submersion in water up to 1.5 meters depth for 30 minutes.

The "9K" in IP69K means that the device is designed to withstand high-pressure jets of water from close range. As well as, temporary submersion in water up to 1.5 meters depth for 30 minutes.

2. MIL-STD-810G - is an international standard that emphasizes tailoring an equipment's environmental design and test limits to the conditions that it will experience throughout its service life, and establishing chamber test methods that replicate the effects of environments on the equipment rather than imitating the environments themselves.

While, IP68/IP69K and MIL-STD-810G means OUKITEL rugged phones are durable and more likely to survive drops and harsh working environments, it does not mean that the phones are bulletproof. If the device is dropped from 1.5m to a very rocky surface or with applied pressure - the screen may crack. So we always recommend our clients to apply caution.
