Remembering Jane Goodall

Remembering Jane Goodall

Our team is deeply sadden about the news of Dr Jane Goodall passing. Dr. Goodall's dedication of her life to chimpanzees and to global conservation has been an inspiration to all of us at Oukitel South Africa. Her fieldwork in Gombe changed science when she documented tool use and complex social behaviour in chimpanzees. Her advocacy built the Jane Goodall Institute and the Roots & Shoots youth program, inspiring generations to act for wildlife and habitat.

At Oukitel South Africa we honour Dr Goodall's legacy by supporting practical conservation on the ground. In partnership with our local distributor Tsukuru (Pty) Ltd we back initiatives that put durable devices where they matter: in the hands of anti-poaching teams, field researchers, reserve managers and community mentors.

Tsukuru has donated rugged smartphones, tablets & portable power solutions to anti-poaching units at Lapalala Wilderness and the Black Rhino Game Reserve and supplied rugged phones to community coaches through the JAG Foundation. These devices keep mapping, reporting and evidence capture running in remote terrain and help teams stay connected where power and signal are unreliable.

Why Rugged Devices Matter for Conservation

Poaching incidents and field operations occur far from plugs and reliable signal. Devices that survive dust, rain and long hours of use reduce downtime. They extend patrol range, speed incident reporting, and preserve critical evidence. That makes technology a force multiplier for conservation teams and community programs.

Oukitel South Africa’s Role

Oukitel South Africa supplies rugged phones, tablets and long-life battery devices designed for tough environments. In South Africa the Oukitel brand is distributed locally by Tsukuru, which channels devices into community and conservation projects. Our product design focuses on durability and battery life so frontline teams spend time solving problems not charging devices.

A Concrete Commitment

We will continue to prioritize partnerships that deliver tools and training to those who protect habitats and wildlife. That means ongoing device donations, technical support for field teams, and collaboration with local reserves and NGOs to measure impact. Practical tech plus local knowledge is how we scale protection for species and ecosystems.

Take Action

Support conservation groups that work on the ground. When you choose rugged devices for field work, choose ones designed for real conditions. If you represent a reserve, anti-poaching unit or community program and need rugged hardware or support, contact Oukitel South Africa via Tsukuru.
